Electric brake – Eddy current brake
Electric Brake (Eddy Current Magnet Brake) is one of the key equipment in drilling rigs. The role of this device is to control the vertical velocity of the drill string during drilling a well. The operation of this device is based on eddy current loss due to the movement of a ferrite core in the magnetic field, which leads to the creation of braking torque. Eddy current losses will result in significant heat loss, and for this reason, the coils are cooled by the continuous circulation of water.
RSN (Roshd Sanat Niroo Company) is the first local manufacturer of electric brakes of drilling rigs. The company’s products are made in several types and have the ability to replace ELMAGCO American electric brakes and DS and DWS Chinese models.
