Variable speed electric motors

Variable speed electric motors are widely used in industries that require speed and torque control. Industries such as hot and cold rolling lines of steel and other metals, the oil and petrochemical industry, rotating equipment in cement plants and mines are the most important consumers of variable speed electric motors. Variable speed motors can be designed and manufactured at different voltages and powers depending on the type of application and place of use.

In the process of designing and manufacturing variable speed electric motors, parameters such as heat transfer using cooling systems independent of motor speed, structural strength and shaft tensions on maximum torque at the lowest speed and maximum power must be particularly considered. In the design process of these electric motors, modal analysis techniques are used to ensure that no resonance occurs in the operating speed range of the electric motors.

Since heat loss is not constant in variable speed electric motors due to frequent changes in power and speed, degrading of the insulation system is usually considered as an important issue and necessary measures should be taken in the insulation system design. Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VPI) technology is used in the manufacture of this group of products.
